A motorist looking for rocks for his pond made a grisly discovery in Madison County, Indiana.

Several dogs were in a creek and had been decapitated.

In all authorities say eight dogs were found in the water without heads.

They appeared to be greyhounds.

It's unclear at this point how long the dogs had been in the water.

The man who made the discovery is a dog owner and says he can't understand how someone could do such a thing.

Investigators say there was blood around the carcasses and there could be more dogs downstream.
