SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WIBQ)-The Illinois State Legislature has approved a bill moving Illinois' primary election back to March.

State Representative Elaine Nekritz says the February primary isn't good for voters or candidates due to taking place in the middle of winter and coming right after the holidays.

Other lawmakers say this year's February primary was a "disaster" and not worth trying again.

Illinois' primary would be moved to the third Tuesday in March, where it had been for decades before being moved in 2008.

The bill now awaits the governor's signature.
